POST-DOC AVAILABLE, BALTIMORE, MARYLAND USA

Applications are being accepted for a full-time, non-tenure track postdoctoral associate in the Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology, Bloomberg School of Public Health, Johns Hopkins University, to start January 1, 2010. Initial position is available for one year, with one additional year of funding available dependent on satisfactory performance. Salary based on experience, benefits included.

The aim of this project is to investigate the interactions between symbiotic microorganisms (bacteria and viruses), Anopheles mosquitoes and malaria parasites. There is flexibility available in the specific research area, and candidates may propose their own specific projects within the larger context of the research question.

The candidate should have experience with insect rearing, cell culture, micro-injection, microarrays, DNA, RNA, cloning and protein techniques. Experience with mosquitoes helpful, but not required. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity for independent grant writing and attendance at national/international conferences.
