Postdoctoral position in Medical Entomology

We are seeking highly motivated and talented post-docs to work in a medical entomology lab at Michigan State University. This position is funded by a new five-year NIH grant. The aim of this project is to study three-way interactions among Wolbachia, dengue viruses and mosquitoes, and develop novel genetic control strategies to block transmission of arboviruses in mosquitoes. Applicants should have a Ph.D. degree and training in microbiology, vector biology, entomology, genetics, molecular and cellular biology or a related field. The ideal candidate should have prior research experience with either arboviruses or intracellular bacterium or insect vector. A background in cell culture, genomics and insect innate immunity will also be helpful. The position also involves supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. The initial appointment is for one year and can be extended for the maximum additional four years upon mutual agreement. The successful candidate will be given the opportunity for independent grant writing and attendance at national or international conferences.
